Smaller communes and their contadi

Communes that govern a countryside of their own but are not among the great city-states drawn in their own colours: Crema, Turin, Ivrea, Savona, Albenga, Imola, Cesena, Volterra, San Miniato, Prato, San Gimignano, Colle, Poggibonsi, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Cortona, Feltre and Belluno, Bormio, San Marino and the Istrian towns among them.

They share this colour; each is drawn with its own outline as its town land, and its record says how far its countryside reached, who governed it on the morning of 1 January 1200 where that could be pinned, and with whom it stood.
