About

One morning, three ways in

OMNIA is the world at first light on 1 January 1200, mapped from Iceland to Japan. Everything here starts from that one morning, before anything that happened later has happened.

OMNIA is a strategy game, an atlas and a Play by Post campaign, all set on one map of the world at first light on 1 January 1200. Seeds of Empire is the free browser game; the Atlas of 1200 records who held each realm, lordship and church land that morning, with sources; and The Hatch and Brood of Time is the Play by Post, where each player takes a real person from 1200 and a game master resolves one year per turn.

What is here

The map

Twenty-nine regional maps joined into one: 438 realms coloured on the ground, 2,781 lords and officers, 5,473 towns, ports and sites, 1,634 provinces and peoples, and 832 church lands and religious houses. Every record says which regional map researched it and how thick the evidence is. Where a fact cannot be pinned tighter than a year or a reign, the map says so rather than inventing a January position.

The map is public and free to read.

Who runs it

OMNIA is written and run by its GM. Every person and power no player holds is played by the GM, in its own voice and for its own interests. Seeds of Empire uses the same map and the same realms, with relief from Natural Earth and painted art made for the game.
