Colle

A market town on the Elsa that Florence encouraged after 1176 as a counterweight to Poggibonsi.

In 1199 it fought Poggibonsi with San Gimignano (the war of Casaglia) and made a pact of alliance and mutual defence with San Gimignano on 24 November 1199, with Semifonte joining.
