Noli

Noli is a small fortified port between Savona and Finale.

It took part in the First Crusade and won trading privileges in the East. Between 1188 and 1193 it bought Enrico II Del Carretto's rights (the grain market, criminal justice), the act being drawn up in the church of San Paragorio; Henry VI confirmed its freedom in 1196, and on 8 April 1198 Enrico ceded it the castle of Segno with free passage. It quarrelled with Savona over the land of Tosse in 1189.

Its alliance on equal terms with Genoa comes only in 1202.
