Kamata: the Koch, Mech and Bodo country west of the Manas

The duars and the plain west of the Manas: Koch Bihar, the Gauri and Gadadhar rivers, Goalpara and Dhubri.

Mech and Koch clans under their own chiefs; Kamarupa and the Senas both claim it. A Mech chief guides Bakhtiyar in 1206 (Minhaj). The Kamata kingdom is a later thing (after 1257). See Koch, Mech and Bodo.
