Mewat

The scrub and ridge country between Delhi and the Chahamana lands, held by Meo clans who pay when they must and raid when they can.

It has no capital and no ruler an army can defeat, which is why later rulers of Delhi send punitive columns into it (Balban's three campaigns are the Wikipedia page's examples, all well after this game opens). The sources we reached have the Meos brought to Islam in later reigns, so none is attested for 1200. Alwar is the later centre and Tijara first appears in the fifteenth century.

The brief asks for the 'Yaduvamshi Mewatis if attested': the Wikipedia Mewat page does not call the Khanzadas Yaduvanshi and puts their conversion in 1355, so none is attested for 1200.

Where the sources disagree

  • The campaign board entry mewat-meo-country puts the Mewat under 'The Chahamana survivors'. The Meos answer to no Chahamana in the sources we reached.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.
