The people of the western Brahmaputra plain and the duars (Cooch Behar, the Manas and Gauri rivers, Goalpara): Mech and Koch and Bodo clans under their own chiefs, outside the temple kingdoms and across the roads of Kamarupa.
A Mech chief, Ali Mech in the Persian tradition, is the man who guides Bakhtiyar Khalji toward Tibet in 1206 (Minhaj), so the Mech are real in the early thirteenth century. The Kamata kingdom that grows out of this country (Sandhya, after 1257) is not yet founded.

Where the sources disagree
- The campaign board entry the-kamatapur-country is "contested"; the Kamata name and kingdom are later than 1200, so we draw only the peoples.
Evidence: A single anecdote of 1206 and later chronicles.
"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.
On the map: The range is drawn as a province (the matching nie-prov record); this record draws no ground of its own.
