Kosala

The old kingdom of Rama and the Buddha: Ayodhya, Sravasti, Gonda, Bahraich, Basti and the Gorakhpur country between the Ganges and the Himalayan foot.

Gahadavala titles ran over it; the Bhar and Thakur chiefs hold the land; one Ghurid garrison sits at Awadh. The Nath yogis of Gorakhpur, the Tharu of the forest edge and the Buddhist ruins of Sravasti and Kushinagar are its other powers.
