The Kol, Korwa and Baiga hills of the Kaimur and the Son valley

The forests of the Kaimur and Rewa plateaus and the Son valley, from Sidhi and Singrauli through Anuppur and Shahdol: Kol, Korwa, Baiga and Gond clans, with Bhar chiefs on the Ganges side.

The Kalachuri kings and the Gahadavala remnant touch the edges; the Ghurids reach Chunar and Mirzapur. The hill chiefs hold the passes between the Ganges and the Narmada.
