Zimony

Zimony, the Byzantine Zeugminon and the crusaders' Malevilla, sits on the Danube bank at the mouth of the Sava, facing Belgrade.

It changed hands in the Byzantine-Hungarian wars of the twelfth century (Manuel I took its stones to rebuild Belgrade in 1154, by the Belgrade timeline) and has been Hungarian again since Béla III won back Syrmia (1180-1181; renounced by Byzantium in 1185). The Third Crusade crossed from here to Belgrade in 1189. On 1 January 1200 it is the Hungarian bridgehead opposite Belgrade, which is not Hungarian that winter.
