The widest net of any Latin chronicle for 1200, compiled from dozens of sources, many now lost. Under 1199 and 1200 Alberic sets side by side the Champagne tournament at Ecry and the crusade vows, the Flemish and French peace, the interdict, Le Goulet and the Castilian marriage, the German throne war, the Hungarian brothers' quarrel, Byzantine and Bulgarian affairs, and the genealogy of the houses of Champagne, Flanders, Hainaut, Brabant and Bar. Second hand throughout and sometimes misdated, but often the only pointer to a lost local record, and strongest for Champagne and the Meuse lands.
