Schärding

A trading place on the Inn, first named in 804 as a Passau estate, later seat of the Formbach-Neuburg counts' county of Schärding, and since 1160 under the Andechs-Meranians, with a castle on the rock above the river.

Market rights come in the late 13th century, town rights in 1316 and 1364; the Wittelsbach take it in 1248.
