Allendorf

The salt springs of Sooden on the Werra, given to Fulda abbey by Charlemagne with their pans, workers, market and toll.

The place is first called Allendorf in a charter of Landgrave Louis IV of 1218, usually taken as the founding of the town, so in 1200 it is a salt-works and village, not a town.
