The fullest German narrative of the throne war from the Welf and Cologne side. For 1199 and 1200 it records the fighting between King Philip of Swabia and King Otto IV on the Rhine and the Moselle, Philip's march into Saxony against Otto's brother Henry the Count Palatine, the stance of Archbishop Adolf of Cologne, who had crowned Otto at Aachen in July 1198, and the embassies sent to Innocent III. It also notes the deaths and elections of Rhineland bishops. It is partisan for Cologne and for Otto until Adolf changed sides in 1204.
