Pest

A trading settlement on the left bank of the Danube opposite Óbuda, at the river's main crossing, known for its Muslim (Ismaelite) merchants.

Its German settlers and its fame as a market town come in the 1230s, and Buda on the castle hill across the river is founded only after 1241. In 1200 it is a market and ferry place, not a chartered town.
