Meiktila

An artificial lake about 11 km by 0.8 km held by an embankment (English Wikipedia, Meiktila), credited by tradition to Anawrahta, with no date given on the page; it waters a district and the road east.

A modern local pagoda list attributes six pagodas to Narapatisithu and gives 1201 for one (Htee Thone Sint): a local attribution, not evidence. The name is said to come from Mithila.

Narapatisithu.

How things stand that morning

A tank and a district on the road to the Sittaung; whether the tank stands on 1 January 1200 is not pinned (likely, if the tradition is right).

Places of note

  • Meiktila tank: Lake and embankment.

Where the sources disagree
