Frontier town · The kingdom of Pagan under Narapatisithu · as at first light, 1 January 1200

Bhamo

The landing where the Yunnan caravans put their loads into boats; the only place on the campaign board where the overland route from China touches Pagan's river.

The country round it is held by hill peoples under a Pagan claim, and Dali's reach ends at the Gaoligong behind it. The Taping valley road comes down from Tengchong, Pagan claiming its lower end and Dali the upper. No dated fact exists for 1200.

Places of note

  • Bhamo: Landing.

Where the sources disagree

  • Map ruling (sheet builder, pass 1): the ground round Bhamo and Kaungsin is drawn as contested. This researcher's own anchors for the two places and the province record of the Taping valley call it contested, and the Yunnan researcher calls the landing a Shan and Kachin valley; the Pagan claim in this town record is a paper claim. No source shows who held the landing on 1 January 1200.

Evidence: The campaign board entry and geography.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.
