Kalewa

Where the Myittha comes down from the Chin hills into the Chindwin: the road to the Kabaw valley, Manipur and Bengal leaves the river here.

The gazetteer's Kalewa point (23.28, 94.52) is the township centre; the town is at about 23.20, 94.30. The Kabaw valley beyond has no evidence of either a Pagan or a Manipuri hold before the fifteenth century.
