Konstanz (Constance)

The bishop's city where the Rhine leaves Lake Constance, seat of the largest diocese of the Empire, where Barbarossa made peace with the Lombard League in 1183.

Its townsmen are pushing for a place of their own beside the bishop: de.wikipedia records them winning an independent position in 1192 and again in 1213.
