Port · Kediri (Panjalu) under Kertajaya · as at first light, 1 January 1200

Gresik

A sheltered strand inside the Madura strait where boats wait out weather.

The great port that makes the name belongs to later centuries; in 1200 it is an anchorage and a fishing shore, not a town (the campaign board). A Muslim gravestone at Leran, on the same coast, bears the name of Fatimah binti Maimun and a date read as 475 AH (1082); its date and reading are argued, but if right it shows Muslim traders on this shore in 1200. No Muslim ruler is attested.
