Piazza

A town of the northern Italian (Lombard) settlers brought in by the kin of Countess Adelaide (the Aleramici) in the late eleventh century.

Its Lombards joined Roger Sclavus's rising against William I and the massacre of Muslims (1161); the king destroyed the town and it was rebuilt on its present hill.
