A universal chronicle whose last part is a well-placed eyewitness account by a Lombard bishop who served emperors and popes. For 1199 to 1200 Sicard gives Cremona's wars with Milan and Brescia, the renewed Lombard League, the German throne war as seen from Lombardy, Innocent III's recovery of central Italy, and Markward of Annweiler and the German captains in the Kingdom of Sicily. He favours Cremona and the Empire but keeps on terms with the pope.
