Sittaung corridor

The middle Sittaung, a corridor between the Pegu Yoma and the Shan hills that carries the whole road from the dry zone to the Mon coast (board).

At its head is the Meiktila tank on the dry plateau, credited by tradition to Anawrahta, which waters a district and the road east. The town that gives Toungoo its dynasty is founded after Pagan's fall, so what is here now is the road and the river. Nothing is dated.
