The wooded hills and creeks inland of the Silahara ports are the country of Koli, Thakur, Warli and Katkari communities, who farm hill rice, gather forest produce, fish and boat the creeks, and keep the ghat forts and the tracks.
The Silahara king depends on them to hold the passes.

Where the sources disagree
- Common accounts name the Jawhar rajas as old rulers; the usual date of their house is 1343, so they are later.
Evidence: The communities are well known; their organisation in 1200 is inferred.
On the map: The extent is a rough guess.
