Kodagu

The mountain country of the Kaveri's source: the Kodavas live in clan houses (okkas) under village headmen, farm rice in the valleys and hold the passes to the coast.

The Hoysalas claim the country as part of Gangavadi; we found no inscription naming a Kodava chief. Wikipedia (Kodagu district) gives the earlier history in outline.
