Modruš

Modruš in 1200 is a county, not a town: the later castle of Tržan above the settlement may have existed by 1209, and the place is recorded as a market (forum) only in the 14th century.

It is the centre of the county that Béla III granted to the counts of Krk in 1193 (charter disputed).
