Bribir

Bribir, the ancient Varvaria, is the hilltop stronghold and settlement from which the Šubić rule their county, an important and rich place commanding the roads round it.

Its church of St John is first named in 1229 and the Franciscan friary is later. In 1200 it is a kindred stronghold, not a commune.
