Köpenick

The Sprevane stronghold on the island at the Dahme mouth (oldest timber dated 849), Jaxa's seat in the 1150s.

First named 'Copenic' in a charter of Margrave Conrad II of Lusatia in 1209; a German castle replaced the Slav one after that, with the Slav Kietz settlement beside it; town rights about 1232; taken by the Ascanian margraves in 1245.
