Soverosa (Gil Vasques)

The Soverosa are a house split between Portugal and León: Vasco Fernandes left the mordomia in 1186 for León and came home only to die.

On 1 January 1200 the head is his son Gil Vasques, with many properties round Guimarães and the castle of Sobroso across the Minho, but no court office and no tenência pinned until Basto in 1207. His marriage ties him to the king's household: he is stepfather of Martim Sanches, the king's eldest bastard.

His elder brother Martim Vasques died after Alarcos. His first wife, Maria Aires de Fornelos (marriage date not pinned, probably by the 1190s), was once Sancho I's mistress, so he is stepfather to the king's son Martim Sanches and daughter Urraca Sanches.
