The castle of Prampero, on a wooded hill above the Friulian moraine near Magnano in Riviera, goes back to 1025, when Patriarch Poppo allowed a feudatory from Bavaria to build a castrum there.
The lords of Prampero held it continuously for centuries as free noble vassals of the church; no member of the family is pinned for 1200.
