On the Cucagna hill above the Grivò valley near Faedis, the Carinthian noble Odorico of Auspergh built a castle by leave of Patriarch Poppo, shortly after 1027 (the article also says soon after 1000).
His descendants, the lords of Cucagna, dominated the area and threw off the Zucco (castle licensed on 13 November 1248), Partistagno and Freschi lines. Close by stands Soffumbergo, the patriarchs' own summer castle. The lord on 1 January 1200 is not pinned.
