Buddhist monasteries · The Paramaras of Malwa · as at first light, 1 January 1200

Sanchi

The great stupa and its neighbours stand near Vidisha; Buddhist life here shrinks through the later Middle Ages and the site is forgotten by the time of the Muslim conquest, to be found again in 1818 (later).

We know of no source saying whether any monks remain on 1 January 1200.
