Waldburg

Unfree knights who became great men: the Waldburg family served the Welfs in the Schussen valley, passed to the Staufen with the Welf inheritance in 1191, and holds the steward's office at court.

Henry of Waldburg is Philip's imperial steward on 1 January 1200. Their castle of Waldburg stands on the hills east of Ravensburg; their kin of Tanne hold the castle of Tanne (Altthann) near Wolfegg.
