Halin and Bawzaing salt

Salt is the one bulk good the dry zone cannot grow.

The campaign board names the brine wells at Halin (an old walled Pyu city in the Mu valley, still worth holding) and the Bawzaing wells on the southern Shan plateau edge. Neither working is dated in anything we could read, and the Mongol line of 1285 at Halin is later. Treat both as probable and undocumented.

No source we could open dates salt working at Halin or Bawzaing in 1200: the campaign board says the dry zone must have salt and Halin has brine wells; the Bawzaing wells on the southern plateau are boiled for the Shan country's supply.

What it holds

  • The brine wells and the boiling pans
  • The salt trade to the dry zone and to the plateau

How things stand that morning

Probably working; no document.

Places of note

  • Halin (Hanlin): Pyu walled city; brine wells.
  • Bawzaing: Salt wells on the plateau edge.

Where the sources disagree

  • The campaign board entry halin-halingyi: salt wells and the line of 1285 (later).
