Daun

Daun castle on its basalt hill in the Vulkaneifel was the town seat of the lords of Daun, whose older seat was the Altenburg by Schalkenmehren.

When the first house died out in 1163 its ministerialis Richard took over, so the lords of 1200 are a risen ministerial family. Trier will take Daun only in 1353.
