Uji

The crossing of the Uji river, the capital's southern gate, with the Byōdōin and its Phoenix Hall on the bank, given in 1052 by the regent Yorimichi [not yet checked against the source].

The bridge was the scene of the Taira's defeat of Minamoto no Yorimasa in 1180 and of the Minamoto's own crossing against Yoshinaka in 1184 [not yet checked against the source]. Uji tea comes later: Eisai's seed and Myōe's planting date from the first years of the 13th century and after, not 1200 [not yet checked against the source].
