Frontier town · Margraviate of Brandenburg · as at first light, 1 January 1200

Potsdam

Not a town: a Slav castle place of the Heveller on the Havel opposite the Nuthe mouth, first named Poztupimi in Otto III's grant to Quedlinburg abbey of 3 July 993 (which never took effect).

Albert the Bear conquered it in 1150; after 1157 a German stone tower castle was built at the crossing about 700 m from the Slav castle. First called a small town in 1304 and a town in 1317.
