Frontier town · Kingdom of Denmark · as at first light, 1 January 1200

Nyborg

The king's new castle on the Great Belt, built in the late 1100s as a ring wall with round corner towers, a hall and a strong tower (lex.dk).

The town beside it was probably laid out about 1200 and got its first privileges early in the 1200s (danmarkshistorien), so on 1 January 1200 it is at most a beginning. The crossing to Korsør on Zealand made its later fortune.
