Kota Kapur on Bangka: earthwork and the curse stone of 686

An earthwork and sanctuary site on the Mendo river commanding the northern entrance of the Bangka strait.

The curse stone set up here in 686, threatening anyone in Bangka who would not submit, is the clearest statement of what the old Palembang paramountcy claimed. The stone is seventh century; the occupation of the site runs on much later.
