The hill villages of the Wuling mountains south and east of Qianzhou (Pengshui), the Man of the Song records, on the road between the Yangtze at Fuling and the Wu river.
They farm the slopes and hunt, trade salt and cloth with the Song towns, and answer to their own headmen. The Song prefect of Qianzhou holds the town and the river road.

Hereditary.
Allies and rivals
Trade with Qianzhou and Fuzhou; borders the Hubei and Guizhou chieftaincies on the east and south (the scj and scs sheets').

No revolt or campaign is known for the winter. The Song-ruled prefecture of Qianzhou lies to the north.
Wealth
Hill crops, hunting and salt trade; no figures.
Military
Village fighters; no numbers.
Threats
- A raid after a quarrel over salt.
Where the sources disagree
Evidence: The Songshi's Man chapters (recalled, not re-read) place such peoples round Qianzhou; no headman is named and the polygon is a guess from the later Tujia and Miao country.
On the map: Rough; the real country is a set of valleys, and the neighbouring sheets own the ground to the east and south.
