Borderland hills

The hills round Rongshui, Sanjiang, Congjiang and Liping where Guangxi, Guizhou and Hunan meet, held by hill peoples in self-governing dong (grottoes).

The brief calls them Miao and Dong; those are later names: we could read no Song text that uses them of this country. The Song stockade prefectures Rongzhou and Yizhou face them, and Sizhou lies to the north.
