Kayah hills

The hill country of the Kayah (Karenni), between the Sittaung corridor and the Salween.

English Wikipedia (Karen people) has nothing on them before 1300 beyond a genetic study, so there is no evidence of who lived here in 1200 beyond the general picture of Karen-speaking hill villages. The Karenni states of later centuries are not yet founded.

Where the sources disagree

Evidence: No pre-1300 source.

On the map: A guess at an unrecorded hill basin. The south edge is drawn down to Kyaukkyi and Hpapun to carry the Karen hill villages between the Sittaung and the Salween, which belong to the same unruled hill country.
