Eastern tarai

The tarai and the Churia foot east of the Kamala, where the seven headwaters of the Kosi come together and the river leaves the hills through the Chatra gorge onto its fan, with an old Vaishnava tirtha to Varaha on the bank at Barahakshetra.

It is the last place the river can be crossed on anything like fixed ground; below it there is no crossing, only channels (the campaign board). The Karnata kings of Mithila claim the country east of the Kamala thinly; no officer is recorded.
