Maredudd ap Cynan

The younger son of Cynan ab Owain Gwynedd, lord of Eifionydd and part of Ardudwy since the 1170s and of Meirionnydd since about 1194, when his brother gave it him.

He co-founded the Cistercian abbey of Cymer near Dolgellau in 1198 or 1199. Beaten with his brother by Llywelyn at Epiphany 1199, he still holds the coast from Eifionydd to the Dyfi.
