Not direct witnesses to 1200: the surviving patent rolls begin in May 1201 (3 John) and the close rolls in 1204. They matter for the year's aftermath, with the earliest enrolled letters showing the settlement John made with Llywelyn of Gwynedd in July 1201, the first mandates about the queen's dower, and the management of lands and castles held since 1199 and 1200. For the state of things on 1 January 1200 use the charter and fine rolls instead.
