Kalyani's fallen houses

The two houses that ruled from Kalyani for a century and a half are gone: the Kalachuri Singhana (the last, 1183-84), the restored Chalukya Someshvara IV (1184-89, driven into exile at Banavasi by the Seunas in 1189 and defeated by Ballala about 1190).

What remains are collateral families, titled officers and Chalukya-Kalachuri marriage kin in the Kanara and Telugu districts and the migrant Kalachuri house at Mangalvedha (a 1174 record). The Chalukya branch at Mudigonda (Telangana) was broken by Rudradeva; Nagati, brother of Kusumaditya, fled to Kolavenu. They matter as claimants, not as holders.

Wikipedia's Western Chalukya and Kalachuri articles give the end of both lines and say many Kalachuri families moved to the Kanara districts; no living claimant is named for 1 January 1200.

What it holds

  • No ground known; claims only

Allies and rivals

Enemies of all three successors; Kalachuri kin appear as in-laws of the Haihaya Malidevaraju in the Palnadu epic.

How things stand that morning

Powerless.

Places of note

  • Mangalvedha: Kalachuri family seat of 1174 (board 'mangalvedha').

Where the sources disagree

  • The campaign board entry names Kalyani as a three-way prize; no house of its own survives there in what we read.

Evidence: Wikipedia's Western Chalukya Empire, Kalachuris of Kalyani, Veera Ballala II and Rudradeva articles (read); no living claimant is named for 1200.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.
