Veligrad

Veligrad (Velingrad), once a capital of Great Moravia, is in 1200 a village with two churches, first named 1141, which becomes a market village.

After 1205 it belongs to the new Cistercian abbey of Velehrad nearby. Uherské Hradiště, on the Morava islands next to it, is founded only in 1257 by Ottokar II to protect Velehrad.
