Snovsk, now Sednev, a fort on the Snov north-east of Chernigov, is first named for 1068, when Sviatoslav Yaroslavich beat the Cumans near it.
A barrow cemetery of over 300 mounds with retainers' graves lies beside it. In 1200 it is the seat of Rostislav Yaroslavich.
