Sathing Phra: the sand ridge between the lagoon and the sea

A long sand ridge between the lagoon and the sea, carrying a line of banked settlements, brick shrines and an old cut canal.

Excavation has shown continuous occupation and trade here for centuries, which makes it one of the few peninsular places whose life about 1200 rests on dug evidence rather than argument (board). The dug evidence says the place lived; it does not say who ruled it, and we could not check the excavators' dates.

not known: no source names a lord, governor or headman for 1 January 1200

How things stand that morning

No lord, governor or garrison is named by any source for 1 January 1200. Treat as a landing or settlement on the route whose overlord, if any, is not known.

Where the sources disagree

Evidence: Fair for the settlement (board, from excavation we could not check); nothing for its lord.
