Sangeang Api

A cone rising sheer out of the sea off the north-east corner of Sumbawa, in almost constant activity and visible for eighty miles in clear weather (the campaign board).

It is the single best landmark on the eastern run, and the Javanese knew it by name: Sang Hyang Api is in the Nagarakretagama's list of the eastern places (1365). A mountain, not a settlement.
